چکیده

RESUME In this paper, an advanced technique for the generation of deformation maps using SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) data is presented. The algorithm, called the Coherent Pixels Technique, estimates the linear and non-linear components of the displacement, the error of the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) used to cancel the topographic terms, and the atmospheric artifacts from a reduced set of low spatial resolution interferograms. The pixel candidates are selected from those presenting a good coherence level in the whole set of interferograms and the resulting non-uniform mesh tessellated with the Delauney triangulation to establish connections among them. The linear component of movement and DEM error are estimated adjusting a linear model to the data only on the connections. Later on, this information, once integrated to retrieve the absolute values, is used to calculate the non-linear component of movement and atmospheric artifacts with alternate filtering techniques in both temporal and spatial domains. The method presents high flexibility with respect to the required number of images and the baselines length. However, better results are obtained with large datasets of short baseline interferograms. The technique has been tested with ERS SAR data from an area of Catalonia (Spain) and the Campi Flegrei area (Naples, Italy) and validated with on-field precise levelling measurements.

Analysis of Highly Non-linear Deformations Due to Mining Activity with Dinsar: Psic4 Test Site

DInSAR techniques with multiple images are aimed to extract the deformation series from a selected scene using a set of interferograms acquired in different temporal instants. The detection of highly non-linear deformation patterns is a demanding issue for these techniques. In order to get a high quality and reduced set of interferograms, a new selection method is proposed based on a Minimum Sp...

Advanced DInSAR analysis on mining areas: La Union case study (Murcia, SE Spain)

The town of LaUnion (SE, Spain) is located within a metal mining area that has been exploited since the Roman period. This historic exploitation has left behind a high concentration of abandoned underground mining galleries. Currently, an industrial area is subsiding due to the collapse of one of these galleries in May 1998. In this paper, an advanced Differential Interferometry SAR (DInSAR) me...

Non-linear Thermo-mechanical Bending Behavior of Thin and Moderately Thick Functionally Graded Sector Plates Using Dynamic Relaxation Method

In this study, nonlinear bending of solid and annular functionally graded (FG) sector plates subjected to transverse mechanical loading and thermal gradient along the thickness direction is investigated. Material properties are varied continuously along the plate thickness according to power-law distribution of the volume fraction of the constituents. According to von-Karman relation for large ...

Monitoring of Non-Linear Ground Movement in an Open Pit Iron Mine Based on an Integration of Advanced DInSAR Techniques Using TerraSAR-X Data

This work presents an investigation to determine ground deformation based on an integration of DInSAR Time-Series (DTS) and Persistent Scatterer Interferometry (PSI) techniques aiming at detecting high rates of linear and non-linear ground movement. The combined techniques were applied in an open pit iron mine located in Carajás Mineral Province (Brazilian Amazon region), using a set of 33 Terr...
